Hi -
I am a very successful literary agent who works with IT authors. A large publisher has asked me to find an author for a book on Google Wave and in his words…

I need someone who is already programming applications for Wave, as it's a
developer-level book and should get pretty deep into Wave internals and app
development.

If you have any interest in this opportunity, please do let me know and if you do not, then perhaps you know someone who does. Best - Neil

The 3rd edition is scheduled for publication on July 31st. Let me know when you see it.
Also, here's some more nice notes I got recently in my email. I'm excluding identify information to protect the sender's privacy.

Dear Dr. Salkind:

I wanted to write (thanks Google) and thank you for a great explanation of all that is statistics within your book, Statistics for People Who (Think They) Hate Statistics. I am going back to grad school, and was overwhelmed with everything Ive forgotten since my undergraduate days. I was even a Psych major, conducted my own independent research, and worked for long periods of time with SPSS! Its amazing what Ive forgotten over time, and your book really has been helpful to explain material that the general text has (not surprisingly) made ambiguous.

Thanks!

And here's another...

Mr. Salkind,
I have received your book, Statistics for People Who ( think they)
Hate Statistics. I have been reading it earnestly and feel it should be
named, How to Decipher Statistical Hieroglyphics. Thank you so much to
speaking in a language most of us can understand. The real test for my
comprehension will be Thursday night when I take the midterm. I will
keep you posted. Thank you again and Gods blessings.

OK - it's been a while, but I have been hard at work on the next edition. Right now, I am in the middle of proofreading the PDFs (which are the "pages" prior to the printing). I'm pleased with how they look and the people at Sage did a great job as always.

Please - any questions, just post them here and I'll do the best I can to answer. Neil

New Edition

I'm about to start work on the 3rd edition of Stat for People... and would like to invite you to suggest additions, deletions, anything that you think might make the next edition better than the last. Just post them here so everyone can see them and provide feedback. Thanks.

Welcome!!!

Statistics for People Who (Think They) Hate Statsics is a blog for faculty, students and anyone who uses the popular text published by Sage and written by yours truly. More importantly, it is a place for people who teach statistics to trade ideas, share strategies, ask questions and suggest what might be included in new editions of the book.

Feel free to contribute what and where you want and through the next few weeks, I will be adding links that I hope will be helpful, educational and even fun (imagine that).
